The biggest event at the Billingsley Ford Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity and Show was the John Deere Open Futurity and it became evident, early on, that it would take a big score to win it. When it came down to the second to last horse, Dany Tremblay was leading the pack with a 228.5 on The Wizter owned by MG Reiners of St. Paul, Quebec. Dell Hendricks was just behind with a 228 on Breakout Wrangler, owned by Dan Lindstrom of Gretna, Nebraska. Those are very high scores in futurity competition.

Tim McQuay Tops John Deere Open Futurity Prelims on Gunna Sassya at Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity
On Thursday, October 24, at the Billingsley Ford Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity and Show, an enduring champion rode a 3-year-old to the top finish of the John Deere Open Preliminaries. National Reining Horse Association Hall of Famer Tim McQuay dominated the preliminaries on his home-owned Gunna Sassya with a score of 224. Gunna Sassya is a son of the late Gunner out of Shining N Sassy, the mare Tim won the NRHA Futurity on for then-owner Carol Rose.
