Replacement on borium on shoe
Hi:
I live near Toronto Ontario, Canada. We own a 15 yr old Arab mare who is riden for recreation only. In the winter we have our farrier put borium on the shoes for traction. Where do you suggest placing the borium for the best allround traction on ice etc., and what are your thoughts on borium headed nails. Thank you for your response. Rick Motz Rick: Borium is fine for ice traction. I like to put a large piece across the entire toe and one at each heel. This seems to work best. I use a product call drill tech, it comes in a stick that I can break the pieces off and place them where I want. Borium comes in a stick but you need a welding torch to apply it. I do everything in my forge. The nails don't work as well as drill tech or borium. Scott Article Share Buttons |
