Dr. Lowder:
I have read varying articles and which is the best way to wean a colt. Either "Cold Turkey" or letting him be near his mother. Can I get your thoughts on this?

Either way works great but I like to do it over several days of days of increasing time away from mom. Most important is I like not to wean until about 6 months of age. If you wean around 4 months you increase the chances of the foal developing vices.
