CAMDEN, SC – Organizers at The Carolina Cup Racing Association and equine enthusiasts across the Southeast are making plans for an historic day in Camden this spring. Saturday, March 31st will mark the 80th Annual Carolina Cup Steeplechase Race at the Springdale Race Course.
The CCRA expects more than 65,000 guests for the half dozen steeplechase races that will take place that afternoon – rain, wind or shine.
The Carolina Cup Racing Association is a non-profit organization. Through sponsors and ticket sales, the association hosts The Carolina Cup each spring and The Colonial Cup each fall. The net profits are donated to KershawHealth.
The Carolina Cup Racing Association, a non-profit organization, relies on the Carolina Cup and the Colonial Cup races to fulfill its mission of operating Springdale Race Course as both an equestrian and tourism center.
Springdale Race Course, owned by the state of South Carolina, is a world-renowned, 600-acre European style Thoroughbred racehorse training center that operates year-round and is home to Hall of Fame trainers Jonathan Sheppard and Janet Elliot. Famous equine residents have included Flat Top, Storm Cat, Forever Together, Zacchio and Ruffian.
