Gunner Newest NRHA Five Million Dollar Sire
In less than nine months after earning his Four Million Dollar Sire status, Gunner (AQHA Colonels Smoking Gun; APHA Colonels Smokingun) has become The National Reining Horse Association’s (NRHA) fourth, Five Million Dollar Sire. As of May 13, 2013, the NRHA Hall of Fame inductee has official offspring earnings of $5,096,543. Himes Named Interim NRHA Executive Director
The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) has named an Interim NRHA Executive Director: Beth Himes of Millersport, Ohio. The Board of Directors voted unanimously for Himes to serve as interim executive director as provided for in the NRHA Bylaws. Himes also will uphold her current duties as president. Wimps Quixote Cody and Shawn Flarida Top Kentucky Reining Cup
Shawn Flarida earned the winner’s share of the $100,000 Kentucky Reining Cup at the Kentucky Horse Park, riding Wimps Quixote Cody to a score of 226.5. Andrea Fappani rode Star For The Chicks to second place (224.5) and Tom McCutcheon rode Pretty Peppy Chec to third place (221.0). Shane Brown Wins the Freestyle Reining World Championship Again
For the second time in three years, Shane Brown won the World Championship Freestyle Reining tonight at the Kentucky Horse Park. He rode Shepherd Star to the title, receiving 228 points from the three judges. Morey Fisk Wins the NRHA European Futurity Championship for the Second Year Running
Several thousand visitors watched an exciting €146,000-added NRHA European Futurity Open final on Saturday night with scores climbing as the evening progressed. Canadian trainer Morey Fisk repeated last year’s success aboard Claudia Simon’s beautiful palomino mare Shiners Party Dress (Shining Spark x Smartly Dressed). The 2013 edition of the National Reining Breeders Classic Open Level 4 finals provided suspense, excitement, and paid out a whole lot of cash. The original field of 209 entries had been whittled down to the top 31, all vying for the $75,000 first place prize. Claudio Risso from Italy did it again: the 2009 NRHA European Futurity Non Pro Champion rode RS Barbaresco Blue (Spat A Blue x NMSU Bonitas Jo x Lenas Bonita) to the 2013 KL Performance Horses Level 4 Non Pro Futurity. The gelding bred by Claudio Risso is a half-brother of Claudio’s 2009 Futurity Champion RS Linkwood Jac. The two held the fifth highest score in the qualifying go round (211) and scored a 216 in the finals. Dominik Reminder and GR JFB Boy Win NRHA European Futurity Roleski NRHA Open

The qualifiers for the 2013 National Reining Breeders Classic Open finals were decided after two days of grueling competition at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas. The field of 209 was narrowed to only 31 contenders still going for the Championship prize of $75,000. NRHA European Futurity Open Go-Round Begins
The spotlight was on the Ostbayernhalle Arena in Kreuth, Germany, as the first section of the first go-round of the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) European Open Futurity took place today with 46 horse-rider combinations making their way into the pen vying for a spot in the finals which will take place on Saturday, April 20.
