Callie Leone
Hometown: Greenwich, Connecticut
Biography
Watch out, there's another member of Team Leone! She's a little bit smaller and not quite as old, but she's got the same competitive drive and love of the sport. Her name is Callie, the daughter of Peter. At 12 she already understands what it takes to win and has felt the heartbreak of defeat. She has the attitude of a true competitor. When asked "What's your favorite thing to do when riding?" her answer was "To have a really challenging course and me and my pony doing it well." When asked about being nervous at horse shows she responded, " I tell myself to go have fun and if I make a mistake I try to learn from it." Most ADULT riders don't have that insight.
When talking about her ponies you can hear the little girl in her voice. She is attached to them all. Rainsox is her green pony she purchased last year at the Pony Auction. She described him as as a good boy and that he loves treats. She says he looks at her as if to say, "Are you going to come play with me or what?" He's working well and she thinks he will be very easy to ride.
Salvendi Speakeasy known as Easy she's had for two years. Callie says she's very easy to ride and likes to be perfect ."She gets upset when she doesn't win." According to Callie Easy takes the attitude of "I should have won that!" Don't you just love that, a pony with an attitude! Her favorite treat, by the way, is a peppermint.
Callie has started the equitation division and she says she likes it because her horse makes it fun. She's also riding a children's jumper. Watch for her! She will be at the Pony Finals on Easy and Rainsox.
