On March 21, 2010 the Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) Board of Directors approved a one year pilot program to explore the feasibility of creating a Regional Appaloosa Experience Show Program.
After reviewing many applications, an ApHC Board Committee determined the winners of the Regional 2010 Appaloosa Experience Show Program. The committee placed great emphasis on voting for regional shows that would help our families during a time of economic down turn and to attract non-ApHC families to our community by making the Regional Appaloosa Experience Shows the number one choice for all equine youth and family groups thereby gaining maximum exposure for the breed, the Association and our regional clubs.
Three regional clubs won a place in history by being the firsts to be included in this innovative pilot program in their show line up are (in alphabetical order) Arizona ApHC, North Carolina ApHC, and Shenandoah Blue Ridge ApHC. The shows being sponsored by the program are AAA Fall Classic, Tri State Zone Show, and Shenandoah Blue Ridge Appaloosa Association Lee Jackson Classic respectively. These regional clubs will receive $2,400 in financial support from ApHC, national point fee waiver for all ApHC youth classes, ApHC press release services and electronic promotion for their show.
As established by the Regional Appaloosa Experience Show Program criteria these shows must offer ApHC-approved and all-breed youth classes for FREE! Meaning, no entry fees for any youth exhibitor to compete in any youth class at the show. Also, the show must meet all the regular show approval requirements (per rule 601 of the 2010 Official Handbook of the Appaloosa Horse Club). In addition to minimum mandatory class requirements for ApHC approval, the show must offer 5 all-breed youth classes (halter, showmanship, western pleasure, English pleasure and games).
