2002 AQHA Youth World Show
By John Brasseaux
The 2002 American Quarter Horse Youth Association, which ran for eight days during the first part of August, has concluded once again in Fort Worth, Texas.
The annual gathering is the largest youth horse show in America, with hundreds of horses entered in every class the AQHA offers, from halter to trail to cutting to jumping, again highlighting the versatility of the American Quarter Horse.
Youth competitors - who can be no older than 19 by the first of the year - qualify for the Youth World and are sent by their state's AQHYA association as a delegation. No money is offered but a Youth World buckle is one of the most sought after trophies in the world of youth showing. Its distinctive black border makes it stand out from all others.
