Successful AQHA Summer Hat Trick in Poland

July proved to be very successful for the Polish Quarter Horse Association (PLQHA) in Poland. The PLQHA offered a hat trick of events: a Horsemanship Camp, All-Novice Show and Trail Ride.

July 20-23 offered the first edition of PLQHA Horsemanhip Camp with theoretical and working knowledge about western riding. Topics covered issues like horse build, treatment, breeding and feeding. The camp was presented by coaches Alicia Daugherty, Jennifer Richards, Lindsey Frick and Zack Burson from Texas Tech University. The Horsemanhip Camp finished with mini-show in which competitiors could show and judge themselves under the coach's supervision. It was a great introduction to PLQHA All-Novice Show.

The first PLQHA All-Novice Show was held July 25 at Roleski Ranch in Old Zukowice. Twenty-three horses competed in Amateur and Youth classes. The competition was preceded by a 1-day training course conducted by the judge, Dagmar Zenker from Germany. Zenker offered individual guidance before and after the competition for the novice riders.

The most popular class at the All-Novice Show was Reining, which has been growing in strength over the years. The top three places in each class were honored with cups in performance classes and trophies in halter classes. Top points in Amateur awarded to Izablla Zarnawska on Red Bronco Bonanza and in Youth to Olga Leszczaniecka on Scorps Tuffy. Both were awarded Hy-O Silver buckles. A special prize was also offered from judge Dagmar Zenker. Three young competitiors: Olga Leszczaniecka, Dominika Dubowik and Gabriela Pacyna were given a one-week training stay at Zenker's Trainig Center in Munster.

Wrapping up the hat trick in Poland was a historic PLQHA Trail Ride on July 26 through the grasslands, fields, woods and valleys of Old Zukowice. Led by trail boss, Aleksander Jarmula and trainer, Wojciech Adamczyk the group of 19 horses enjoyed the charming countryside near Furioso resort.

There were unforgettable moments confirming the calm and perfect character of American Quarter Horse who is not only successful in the sport arena but also in trail riding. For more information about PLQHA visit http://www.plqha.com.
