The WPRA's Richest Race with a winner's share of $100,000, puts this multi-faceted WPRA event on the barrel racing Richter scale! We foresee a packed house on Friday, Jan. 19th for the second round of the Coors Women's National Finals Rodeo and the opportunity to watch 40 gutsy WPRA barrel racers on 40 aggressive steeds compete on the Diamond W's fast, tailored to barrel racing, dirt. You'll see World Champions in the program along names you've never heard. WPRA's Richest Race is open to the first 40 WPRA members (or slot purchasers) to send in an application. To enter, download an entry form from www.wpra.com, write your check for $5000, and send them in by November 15, 2006.
Alvarado is the new home to the Wrangler Divisional Tour Finals and the Coors Women's National Finals Rodeo. The Wrangler Divisional Tour is an excellent program for our circuit cowgirls with $11,000 added money and new Wrangler apparel for every finalist! The average winner takes home a beautiful trophy saddle and there are trophy buckles or other awards for all the qualifiers. Competitors are treated first rate by Wrangler!
One of the most exciting and tradition rich events that the WPRA presents each year is the Coors Women's National Finals Rodeo. Here you'll see the women competitors at the top of their game in bareback riding, team roping, tie-down calf roping, barrel racing, break away roping, and bull riding. Allan Morehead commentates Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights' championship rodeo competition while the competitors in the WPRA's All Women's Division vie for more than $40,000 compliments of their loyal corporate supporter, Coors!
There is one adrenaline packed competition after another. The Dodge Rodeo Pro Futurity Finals has $30,000 added money and the JB Quarter Horses Pro Derby Finals has $10,000 added money, plus some lucrative side-pots. Saddles, buckles, jackets and other awards will be presented to top finals contestants and top year-end contestants at the awards ceremony Saturday night. To be in the finals, WPRA members need to compete in at least one Pro Futurity or Pro Derby event in 2006. Check www.wpra.com to see where you can still compete.
The event's 4D Challenger Race is open to any woman, 18 years and older. WPRA members vie for points that count toward the 2006 4D Challenger Race year-end standings. Lisa McCool of Diamond D Arena tell us there are 1200 barrel racers within a 50 mile radius of the arena, so if you want to enter, get your entry form filled out and sent in soon as the event is limited to 400 runs plus roll-over times from the Futurity & Derby. There are saddles & buckles and $10,000 added money. (And our sponsors are providing a bag full of surprises for all who enter.)
There is more! There's the Ridin' for the Brand Trade Show, a BBQ, VIP Cantina, a Rodeo Party, the Pro Elite Stallion Showcase, a silent stallion service auction, a saddle drawing for Breast Cancer Awareness, Saturday night's awards ceremony and Learn From The Legends barrel racing-horsemanship clinic with Kristie Peterson, Kaye Blandford and Kelly Yates. Tickets for the 9AM-4PM clinic are $35. Contestant tickets are just $25. Reserved seating at arena side is $50 per person.
